Kratom Industry Challenges FDA’s Warning on OPMS Black Liquid Kratom
The American Kratom Association (AKA) is urging the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to retract its recent warning against OPMS Black Liquid Kratom. The FDA had issued a consumer warning on July 26, linking the product to serious adverse health effects, including death. However, the AKA argues that these claims are based on unreliable evidence and have not been independently verified. Mac Haddow, a Senior Fellow on Public Policy at the AKA, criticized the FDA for what he sees as a continuation of debunked claims, citing a similar incident in Sweden in 2009 where deaths were attributed to a toxic adulterant rather than kratom itself. The AKA is demanding that FDA Commissioner Robert Califf hold the agency accountable for what they describe as misleading statements. For more details, visit the original article on Food Safety News.
