Kratom: a special plant of Borneo origin that is banned for sale in Indonesia and Australia
In Indonesia, especially in Borneo, it grows a special plant named Kratom. The leaves of this plant, for hundreds of years were consumed by the Dayak people.
These kratom leaves have a number of special properties.
Nowadays kratom is cultivated, and even exported, and becomes a beverage ingredient like tea.
Howeverin Indonesia there is a ban on consuming this kratom “tea”. So if you visit Pontianak, for example, will not find a serving of kratom drinks.
Thiscommodity has been exported massively in quantities of thousands of tons to the United States, Europe and a number of other regions.
Australia still prohibits kratom consumption, as is Indonesia.
