Florida Tightens Rules on 7-OH Kratom Derivatives
Florida officials have expanded restrictions on 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH), a concentrated kratom-related compound, with a new emergency rule aimed at limiting its presence in consumer products. Attorney General James Uthmeier announced updated measures to close loopholes that allowed manufacturers to bypass earlier limits.
Under the new rule, products may contain no more than 1 milligram of 7-OH or related compounds per gram or milliliter, and must include significantly higher levels of mitragynine to prevent high-potency formulations. The rule also applies to several chemically related derivatives.
These changes specifically target concentrated extracts and synthetic formulations sold in products like gummies, shots, and tablets. Importantly, traditional, natural kratom products remain unaffected by these new restrictions.
