Minnesota Raises Kratom Purchase Age to 21
Minnesota’s kratom purchase age rose from 18 to 21 on August 1, 2026, under a law signed in May, according to Becker’s Behavioral Health. Selling kratom or products containing mitragynine or 7-hydroxymitragynine to someone under 21 is now a gross misdemeanor, and possession by someone under 21 is a misdemeanor, under the amended state statute. Bill author Rep. Jessica Hanson has said future legislation could address product labeling, licensing, and retail sales standards.
